What CASA Volunteers Do
CASA volunteers play a vital role in a child's life, providing advocacy, stability, and support. Here’s a look at what that means:

CASA volunteers make a difference through meaningful advocacy and connection. Here’s what that looks like in action:
- Visiting their appointed child at least once a month
- Staying in contact with teachers, parents, foster families, and service providers
- Building trust through simple, meaningful activities:
- Take them to the park.
- Get an ice cream or visit the library.
- Go for a walk, bike ride, or a meal.
- Visit their home or enjoy a movie together.
Is This the Same as Being a Foster Parent?
No. CASA volunteering is a lower-commitment opportunity with a minimum requirement of a few hours per month. It’s ideal for people who want to help children without the full-time responsibility of fostering.
Who Can Volunteer?
To begin the process of becoming a CASA volunteer, you must meet these minimum requirements:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Pass a background check
- Have a valid ID, phone number, and permanent address
Additional training and steps are required before being sworn in as a CASA volunteer.
